IMC 2024- AI-Powered Future


This year India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, which was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi 15-18th oct, presented a vibrant picture of the innovation landscape in India. This was its 08th edition and more than three thousand industry leaders, policymakers, and tech experts from over 190 countries participated together.  With all its hardware and software innovations for 5G, AI, and IoT, it showed the bright future unfolding within these technologies. Along with other speakers were Qualcomm, Jio, Airtel, Vi, and more, which showed its stunning solutions by displaying innovations and proceedings with the inclusion of AI, advanced telecommunication, and emerging industries.


This has been inaugurated by, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he interacted with pioneering startups like Signalchip, Wisig Networks, and women-led startups like Astrome and Easiofy Solutions, showcasing India's leadership in cutting-edge technology innovations.



Growing Presence of AI rising incorporation of AI within sectors and companies showcased their best use cases. 


Qualcomm booth, for instance, offered a huge gamut of solutions ranging from Ray-Ban Meta Glasses to high-end PoS devices with facial and palm recognition. It thus reflected the AI-led transformation in consumer experiences and business solutions. 


Jio continued to emphasis on embracing and use of AI in addition to its advancements in its use-cases such as new Jio TV OS, IoT products for Agriculture and Tracking, Jio Spandan – for healthcare and Virtual Gameplay.  



Industry 5.0 and IoT Adoption The concept of Industry 5.0, fusing human collaboration with machine capabilities, went viral during the event. Jio concentrated on capitalizing on this idea as reflected in the advanced IoT solutions- Jio Spandan for healthcare and Jio Trakr for intelligent surveillance. The company also is eager to force the adoption of the RedCap services, particularly wearables and IoT while partnership with Airtel for connected cars marked an important step toward the automotive technology in India.


India's indigenous telecom solution provider, showcased robust 4G and 5G-NSA solutions in the exhibition, which played an important role in the growth of 4G in the country and the recently emergent 5G sector. The work done along with partners BSNL and Tejas Networks on LTE deployment in Railways and broadband services reaching rural areas further underlined the need for home-grown technology solutions.


Emerging Segments and Growth Opportunities Emerging segments like private 5G, satellite communications (SatCom), and AI-driven industrial automation were the other key takes. Companies like Airtel and Ericsson gave a early first look into 5G-powered low-latency emergency response systems and AI-powered network optimization unlocking tremendous opportunities for India's booming tech ecosystem. Meanwhile, the role of Tejas Networks for providing Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) broadcast services also hints at future trends in media consumption and mobile technology.


In summary, IMC 2024 described India's growing significance in global technological development with AI innovations, 5G, and IoT at the forefront. While, in fact, these developments do not only show its capability in innovation across various sectors but also position the country as a key player on the world's technological map.
